Assessment and Reporting

At St Joachim's, assessment is an important part of the learning journey. It helps teachers understand each student's strengths, identify areas for growth and ensure every learner is supported to achieve success.

Throughout the year, teachers gather evidence of learning through classroom observations, student work samples, discussions, projects and assessment tasks. This information helps us monitor progress, celebrate achievement and plan the next steps in learning.

We believe assessment should do more than measure achievement. It should help students develop confidence, recognise their progress and understand how they can continue to grow.

Reporting

At St Joachim's, we value strong partnerships between school and home. Keeping families informed about their child's learning is an important part of this partnership.

Parents and carers receive information about student learning and progress through:

• Parent-Teacher Interviews across the year, offered in Terms 1 and 3.
• Curriculum information shared at the beginning of each term through year level overviews.
• Ongoing communication with classroom teachers.
• Formal written reports at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2

Semester reports provide a clear overview of student achievement and progress in relation to the Australian Curriculum and Religious Education Curriculum. They celebrate strengths, identify areas for continued growth and support conversations about future learning.

Formal written reports are made available to parents and carers through BCE Connect at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2, providing a summary of student achievement and progress throughout the reporting period.

By working together, families and teachers can ensure every student is known, supported and challenged to reach their potential.
