Welcome to St Joachim’s Catholic Primary School, a high-quality learning community that seeks to develop our children to their full potential. The demand for enrolment is increasing as younger families are attracted back to the established areas of Holland Park and surrounding areas, while wanting a smaller school environment where all students are cared for and known. At present our enrolment is 304 students with our classes catering for the primary years from Prep to Year 6.
St Joachim’s School has significantly changed in the last few years with new buildings and facilities being provided for the students. These projects are part of a long-term strategy to meet enrolment demand and to continue to develop modern first-class educational facilities to meet all the challenges that the 21st century will bring. Our new facilities include classrooms, visual arts and performing arts rooms, a learning support centre, administrative offices, boardroom and staffroom. Our library, Penola Place, has also been extended and refurbished and now includes a green room for multi-media projects, robotics and coding tasks. We are currently entering a new and exciting planning and development cycle where a five-year plan for our playground and surrounds is being developed in consultation with all stakeholders.
At St Joachim’s we believe that learning and teaching is inclusive, supportive, collaborative, respectful, purposeful and meaningful. The variety of talents, gifts and interests exhibited by our students are catered for by our rich extra-curricular offerings, either before or after school. Instrumental music, speech and drama, chess, coding, sport, choir and band are offered in the safe surroundings of the school grounds. St Joachim’s is a place where opportunities abound.
In the pages that follow you will find a range of information about our school. I encourage you to take some time to explore our site and I invite you to contact me if you have any further enquiries. It is a great privilege to lead and be part of such a warm and welcoming community.
